Whether you're a total newbie or you need a refresher, this quick 5 week course will provide a strong foundation to develop your skills. Our method of teaching focuses on understanding how a sewing machine actually functions and therefore eliminates frustration when problems occur. Though we will complete a very basic sewing project, the main objective is to demystify the sewing machine, grasp basic sewing concepts, and begin to create good, systematic behaviors so that sewing becomes "second nature."
Course Breakdown:
Day 1: Learn how a sewing machine works, practice basic maneuvers, learn to thread the machine, discuss tension/tension issues.
Day 2: Practice basic sewing techniques, discuss commonly used accessory feet, experiment with different stitches.
Day:3 Discuss fabric types and grainline, discuss cutting options, cut fabric for projects.
Day 4: Begin project
Day 5: Finish project, time permitting- class discussion.
